Coastal Grandmother Jewelry

Whaaat? Did I say grandmother jewelry ?

Yes, I did.

If you’ve not heard the term “coastal grandmother,” it was coined by a 20-something Tik Tok influencer, Lex Nicoleta, to denote a coastal, easy, classic vibe. (Think Diane Keaton in Something’s Gotta Give.)

When I think about a beachy, easy classic vibe, I think about white button-downs, linen pants, comfy straight-leg white jeans, a cardigan tossed over the shoulders, khakis. And, when it comes to jewelry, I think simple necklaces, hoops and pearls.

While the term “coastal grandmother” may be new, these styles are not. These are all classic, timeless trends.

So, let’s talk jewelry … while I may favor eclectic jewelry, I still do love my hoop earrings (gold or silver) and my pearl jewelry of every imaginable style. In fact, it wasn’t until I sat down to write this article that I realized just how much pearl jewelry I own: I have a couple of pearl and leather necklaces purchased on the island of St. Martin; several pearl necklaces including a strand that literally hits my waist, and my mom’s opera-length pearls that she gifted to me … and more. And, I have numerous styles of pearl earrings including drops, dangles and hoops.

I’ve said for a long time that every woman needs a collection of hoops. To that end, I’m bringing back a twist on my circle collection from a couple of years ago. It’s called “Le Cerceau Collection.” (Cerceau means hoop in French.) Find this collection here.
