Bullet Shell Necklace

Look closely and you’ll see these tassel necklaces, part of my Re-Fabulous collection, are made from spent bullet shells. (I purchased the shells from a local gun range. I love to upcycle pretty much anything and everything.) After painstakingly cleaning the bullet shells, I drilled holes in the top. Next I sealed the shells using two coats of a protective coating so the bullet shells would retain their luster and prevent tarnishing and oxidation.

The tassels themselves are crafted from old chain, much of it vintage, plus beads, Czechoslovakian crystal rondelles,bead caps, and whatever else strikes my fancy as I’m putting the tassel together. Each tassel hangs on a 24″ stainless steel ball chain, making the perfect tassel necklace!

Materials: Brass or steel bullet shell, stainless steel ball chain, beads, Czechoslovakian crystal rondelles, end caps, various chain. The exact material of some of the chain in the tassels is unknown as the chains are upcycled from old jewelry.
